Polarization Beam Combiner/Splitter
Polarization Beam Splitter /Combiner (PBS/PBC) can be used as a polarized beam combiner (polarizing beam from two polarizing fibers to join the output of a single-mode fiber), or a polarized beam splitter (dividing the beam into two orthogonal polarization states to output into two polarizing fibers). An important application area of this device is to achieve polarization multiplexing (demultiplexing) to increase the communication capacity of optical fiber network systems.
